In our bi-weekly segment, we are happy to sit down with individuals who are changing the world and being amazing parents at the same time. After all, parenthood on it’s own is no small task. Being a busy professional while parenting, now that deserves an award! This week we sat down with a renowned NY orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Armin Tehrany.
Dr. Tehrany is the founder of Manhattan Orthopedic Care, an orthopedic practice with locations in both Manhattan and Staten Island that specializes in shoulder and knee. As a board-certified expert in his field, he has worked with team physicians from the New York Jets, the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders.
Outside of that, Dr. Tehrany serves on several boards, is an assistant clinical professor at Mount Sinai, and is an honorary surgeon for the NYC police department.
As if those accomplishments weren’t enough, Dr. Tehrany is also the owner of a film company, Precision Cuts Productions, along with his wife Valerie.
During our conversation with Dr. Tehrany, we discuss what inspired him to pursue a specialty of shoulder and knee. Moreover, Dr. Tehrany admits that even as an expert in his field he is constantly humbled by his desire to become better.
He also admits that he often wears many hats in his line of work and prides himself on his ability to build trust with his patients.
“Over the last few years I’ve become also a part time therapist,” says Dr. Tehrany. “Maybe the problem is not coming from the shoulder – [life] stresses could sometimes exacerbate the shoulder condition they already have.”
When asked what he finds sacred, Dr. Tehrany was adamant about the following:
- 1-on-1 time with his kids (who are 13 & 16)
- family dinner without phones
- admitting mistakes and being honorable
